Taken from Fern Hill in Queenstown which is in the south island of New Zealand.
I took this last night after the storm had cleared... there was around 15cm of snow accumulated in around an hour. The clouds hung around for a while so I couldnt get any shots... until I noticed the clear skies before bed. I hopped in my car and drove up the road to one of my little spots to take this. I thought it was a perfect opportunity to take my submission to the =PanoramaClubs competition Long Exposure Panoramas (my idea!) Im happy to say that it won! No prizes just a feature with =PanoramaClub - Im just stoked on winning my first comp! I also entered it into =MountainShots competition which I tied for first! It is 8 photos over 2 levels, merged together using PTGui Pro. [][][][] [][][][] each photo was a 30s exposure Oh and by the way... its my 100th deviation!! Daily DeviationGiven 2009-01-31Stars on Ice by =mark-flammable This is just incredible and the full view really shocks the viewer, and greets them with nothing but eye candy! Looking like something out of a Christmas time fairy tale, the exposure, with the lights and stars glowing make this all to come together for one heck of a capture! (Suggested by =FalseNames and Featured by ^kkart) Commentswould have been nice and chilly i bet! looks rad with the lights but i reckon to improve straighten the rightmost mountain so its based is horizontal. does PTgui offer the tools to do that?
-- Bolt = Glorified Screw I experimented with that but it makes the mountains on the left look really weird! It def was nice and chilly!
-- Flammable Clothing then see if you can map those mountains to horizontals as well - it's a bit of a balancing act i know!
