Serenity by mark-flammable Serenity by mark-flammable
I usually try to avoid capturing man made elements in my photos but during my first session with my new Tokina 11-16mm, I saw this view so had to bring out the telephoto. I just loved the atmospheric perspective in the headlands and the way the yacht was silhouetted against the sunrise. I think the ripples in the reflection also give it quite a nice feeling.

Uh, lots of reading online, watch people on here who's work you like and see how they did it (shutter speeds + aperture etc.) and if you dont understand... just ask!

No problem... start with some of my shots if you want.
I would go for shots you want to reproduce... emulation is the start of learning, then once you have these tools, you can apply them where you want and start experimenting.
Good luck!

Start trying to learn about weather! Try to predict sunsets... basically, know where the sun will be setting/rising, if there is cloud cover with a gap on the horizon where the sun will set/rise, it will shine up and light underneath the clouds.
Get The Photographers Ephemeris to more accurately predict sun positions and times!

Beautiful color gradiation, seems almost rendered. Be careful for overdone borders. They tend to detract from the image. Try a simple 10-30px black border all the way around

Thanks, I can see what your talking about with the border on this shot... do you think its over done on all of my shots? I think it looks good on the landscape shots but maybe a little too overpowering on portrait shots... what do you think?

Keep borders and logos absolutely minimal.

K, I would only ever put borders on for websites like this, flickr and facebook.
Ill experiment with some smaller borders.
