This is part of a book I am designing for my 2D class. The book is on nature native to New Zealand. This is a Kauri Snail which is an awesome creature! Check it out by clicking the link.
This was made in Illustrator and I used 2 resource images.
All text is information I found out about the snail and descriptive words here and there.
I created a compound path of all the text then made a clipping mask using the live traced images.
To shape the text, I either used type on a path or put an envelope distort on straight text using a mesh then manipulated points to distort the text.

Wow---I don't know anything about Illustrator but I bet you get the highest grade in your 2D class. This is amazing looking, plus it looks like a lot of work went into it. :)

The text looks really great!
The only thing I can fault is the quality of the colour blending. I understand that Illustrator doesn't do images very well, but it'd be nice to have to colour/background images of a better quality.

Well I was trying to get away from the realistic image coming thru and wanted a smooth gradient of colour, If I have time ill preproduce the image in vector and it will be all smooth!
